My Thoughts on Weddings at Davenport House

The Bride: Emma
There’s something truly magical about a wedding morning—the soft excitement in the air, the laughter of bridesmaids, and the anticipation of the day ahead. Recently, I had the pleasure of doing bridal hair and makeup for the beautiful bride Emma at the stunning Davenport House, a venue that embodies English countryside elegance. She chose a look that was the epitome of clean, classic, and natural beauty and I was thrilled to bring her vision to life.
The Look: Effortless Elegance
The bride opted for a sleek low bun, a timeless and sophisticated choice that perfectly complemented the refined aesthetic of Davenport House. This style framed her face beautifully, highlighting her natural features while ensuring a polished and structured finish that would last throughout the day and into the night.
For her makeup, the focus was on glowing skin and subtly enhanced eyes. I started by creating a flawless base, using mainly cream products to achieve a seamless, second-skin effect. A soft, subtle contour added gentle dimension, while highlighter was applied to the high points of her face for an effortless radiance. Her complexion looked fresh, luminous, and naturally perfected.
On the eyes, I aimed to create a delicate yet defining effect. A blank canvas was prepared on the eyelids, removing any uneven pigmentation and ensuring a smooth base. To bring light to her eyes, I gently highlighted the inner corners, and I used set of natural lashes on a clear band to give a neat and symmetrical look. I placed tiny brushstroke of highlighter beneath her perfectly groomed brows and for her brows were shaped to symmetrical perfection with fine, hair-like strokes, subtly enhancing their natural fullness.
Her lips were finished with a neutral liner from Charlotte Tilbury to neaten her natural lip shape, followed by a rosy gloss—the perfect balance of definition and softness, complementing her overall look beautifully.
The Perfect Setting: Davenport House
The morning preparations took place in Stable Cottage, a spacious and charming setting tucked beside the main house. With ample room for Emma and her bridal party to get ready, the atmosphere was relaxed yet filled with excitement. Davenport House itself is a dream venue—its historic charm, stunning interiors, and expansive grounds teeming with animals create an idyllic backdrop for a wedding day.
As the Emma stepped into her gown, her final touches complete, she radiated confidence, elegance and timeless beauty. It was an honour to be a part of her morning, ensuring she felt her absolute best as she made her way to say “I do.”
